De Chouffe brewery offers fun guided tours and tastings of the famous La Chouffe beers (book well in advance!). A tour in the Hotton Caves is also well worth a visit. And keep an eye on our socials for fun local activities. Of course, you can also just ask us.
Liège-Bastogne-Liège Cycling House
A must-read for anyone with a passion for cycling. In the Liège-Bastogne-Liège Cycling House In Aywaille, you dive into the rich history and atmosphere of one of the oldest and toughest cycling classics in the world: La Doyenne.
The museum is great as a supplement to an active day of cycling, but it's also ideal for a rest day or when the Ardennes weather isn't playing ball. Allow about 45 to 90 minutes for a visit. The information is available in Dutch and French, with additional English and German explanations via QR codes.
Walking
For the most wonderful walks through the vast forests of the Ardennes, you have definitely come to the right place! We have the hiking map of the region here and we have also mapped out a number of shorter (1 to 2 hours of walking) and longer (4 to 5 hours of walking) walks ourselves, all of which start right here from our house. An example of a lovely route is the route from Bois de Harre or the beautiful and challenging Ninglinspo. Ask us for more walking tips.
The MHM44 museum tells the stories of the Battle of the Bulge in the Manhay, Lierneux and Erezée sector. Inside you will find fantastic displays, unique pieces and detailed explanations about the battles that took place in December 1944 and January 1945. You can also watch a documentary with unique footage from this region.
Sheep herding
A fun, relaxed and at times hilarious activity for groups in the Ardennes is sheep herding. Our Flemish neighbours have nearly 50 sheep and around ten dogs, with which they organise a great sheep herding workshop. For about 3 hours, you learn how to guide the flock of sheep as a group and carry out various tasks.
The demonstration with the dogs is fascinating, but also makes it look easier than it actually is... resulting in hilarious scenes! For people who enjoy being outdoors, nature and animals, and who want to do something unique together as a group, this is an absolute must-do!
This activity is also extremely suitable as corporate teambuilding and can be offered completely tailored to teams!
Battle Tour in the Ardennes
Looking for something unique? Join a Battle Tour in the Ardennes! Bob Konings has been studying the Battle of the Bulge since 2008. Not only does he know the area like the back of his hand, he also knows the places where fierce fighting took place during the Battle of the Bulge. Bob will show you that the Battle of the Bulge was somewhat more than the TV series “Band of Brothers”. During the tour you will visit all kinds of strategic points, foxholes, military equipment, etc. Then visit https://www.battletour.be/
* Please note: the tours are not suitable for children under 12 years of age, all tours are by car, and please make sure to bring good shoes, warm clothing and, if necessary, rain gear/umbrella.
Active at Baraque de Fraiture
Baraque de Fraiture (also known as Baraque Fraiture) is the highest point of the Plateau des Tailles in the Belgian Ardennes. It is at an altitude of 651 metres. It is one of the (small) winter sports areas in the Ardennes. In winter, when there is snow, all sorts of winter sports activities can be undertaken. For example, one can ski/snowboard, as well as go sledging or cross-country skiing. On average, the slopes are open 20 days a year. In summer, there are numerous activities such as mountain biking, hiking, BMX and mountain cart. Baraque de Fraiture is a 10-minute drive from our B&B.
Chlorophylle Park
This 9-hectare park is located right in the middle of a forest. It is a fun place to explore with the children: you are spoilt for choice with a whole host of wooden play equipment (a maze, observation huts, a treetop walkway, etc.) and a playground for little ones. View the website here.
